RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT NUCLEAR WEAPONS IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS
On a camping trip out to the San Rafael Swell in Utah I saw an abandoned uranium mine at Temple Mountain that made me wonder about the unseen connections between the nuclear world and the natural world.
Nuclear sites are often in rural and remote places to minimize metropolitan risk, and these are the same places where my friends and I enjoy spending time outside rock climbing, hiking, and camping. How many of our favorite trails and climbing crags are in close proximity to nuclear weapons sites and how many people really know about them?
I started Atomsphere to shed light on the proximity between nuclear weapons sites and some of our most beloved national parks, but there are many ways that the nuclear world and the natural world coexist and Atomsphere is the place where those connections can live and be further explored.
By empowering outdoors enthusiasts with nuclear weapons awareness, I hope to bring in new audiences and investments that support a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.
